Our Faith: Welcome

Who we are

Christian Students on Campus are believers in Christ from various backgrounds. We love the Lord Jesus Christ and endeavor to give Him "the first place in all things" (Colossians 1:18). Our desire is to cooperate with Him for the accomplishment of God's eternal purpose (Ephesians 3:11) by ministering the unsearchable riches of Christ (Ephesians 3:8) for the building up of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). Christian Students on Campus warmly receives all believers in Christ and seeks to maintain the oneness of the Spirit by keeping our focus on Christ. He is so rich! He is so full! He is everything to us, and we enjoy Him. Christian Students on Campus is a registered student organization at UTSA. We hold the faith which is common to all believers. Through daily prayer, Bible reading, and Christian fellowship we are growing "in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and unto the day of eternity. Amen" (2 Peter 3:18).

Our Faith: Text

What we believe

As believers and lovers of Christ, we hold the common faith of all believers in Christ –Titus 1:4; Jude 3

The Bible

The Bible is the complete divine revelation inspired word by word by God through the Holy Spirit –2 Pet. 1:21; 2 Tim. 3:16

God

God is uniquely one, yet triune — the Father, the Son, and the Spirit –1 Tim. 2:5; Matt. 28:19

Christ

The Son of God, even God Himself, was incarnated to be a man by the name of Jesus Christ –John 1:1; John 1:14

The Work of Christ

Christ died on the cross for our sins, shedding His blood for our redemption –1 Pet. 2:24; Eph. 1:7

Salvation

Whenever any person repents to God and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is regenerated (born again) and becomes a living member of the one Body of Christ –Acts 20:21; John 3:3; Eph. 1:22-23; Rom. 12:5

Christ's Coming Again

Christ is coming again to receive His believers to Himself –1 Thes. 2:19; 2 Thes. 2:1; Acts 1:11

Why We Believe

God's heart's desire is to impart His life into man so that man could express Him. It is for this purpose that man was created with three parts; a spirit to contact and receive God, a soul to magnify God, and a body to glorify God. For God to be expressed through man, God must first indwell man's spirit, his innermost being.

However, before man could receive God’s life into his spirit, sin entered into man. This damaged all three parts of man and alienated him from God.

Nevertheless, man’s fall did not deter God from fulfilling His original desire. In order to fulfill His desire, God first became a man called Jesus Christ. Then Christ died on the cross to redeem man, thus taking away his sin and bringing him back to God. Finally, in resurrection, He became a life-giving Spirit so that He could enter into man’s spirit to be his life.

When a person repents and believes in Christ, his sins are forgiven and he receives the life of God. To be forgiven of your sins and receive Christ as your life, simply turn your heart to Him and receive all that He is and has done for you by praying:

Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for me. I confess that I am a sinner and I need You. Lord Jesus, forgive me. Take away my sin. Lord, I believe You rose from the dead, and I want You to be my life. Come into me! Fill me with Your life!

After we receive Christ as our life, He begins the life-long process of growing and spreading from our spirit into our soul and body. By means of this process, God gains His complete expression through man. Praying to contact God, reading the Bible to receive nourishment, and meeting with other believers to enjoy the Lord’s presence are three ways we can cooperate with God for this new life in us to grow.

Daily Prayer

Prayer is an opportunity to spend time with God. Through prayers, God Himself becomes our peace in all our situations to follow Him. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Bible Reading

All Scripture is God-breathed. The Word of God teaches, convicts, corrects, and instructs us in righteousness equipping us for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Christian Fellowship

Meeting with other believers brings us into the presence of the Lord. By speaking the Word to one another, our faith grows unto the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:13)
